cannes

home for a week. took vacation between projects. that and the unusual heavy tropical rainfalls coming daily around the same hour in this area would have been the subject of this very short post till about 10 mins ago, when i found out about cannes. romania had 2 entries in the festival. one movie called…

UEFA

On the way back from zurich to the village on the other side of Confederatio Helvetica where I am still located for this project, I stopped briefly in Fribourg, a nice old town in shades of grey, with an impressive cathedral (like most towns here). Pictures here: http://picasaweb.google.com/explorish/fribourg. i live close to Lausanne, but i…

B B B

Bruxelles & Bruges, i.e. Belgium. Joined my sister in Bruxelles, where she and “the gang” were visiting a friend who lives there. Had a great time with them, revisiting the two cities mentioned + Oostende, where we managed to keep the Romanian tradition of going to the seaside on may 1st, to “inaugurate the season”.…

Easter message

religious talk. Very politically sensitive topic, n’est-ce pas? Ayayay. Here’s my view: if you adhere to a certain religion or like it, or at least have nothing against it, i think you should rejoice and enjoy its holidays with the respective believers, by taking the day off. If you have something against a specific religion…

piste du diable

Sunday, March 25, 2007, 23:45 Taking advantage of the big sales going on, and inspired by the late winter, I bought meself ski equipment on Saturday. Skis and boots and everything. Doing that (plus a haircut) took a while, coz the cheapest skis were sinfully ugly, not even cool-ugly, just plain ugly, not pleasant to…

cars & ski

Those were highlights of this week-end. Yesterday, the Geneva autoshow – HUGE, many cars, crowded.. was ok, nothing mindboggling, maybe car-fans would have had more of a “mekka” feeling, for me it was just interesting. Was more excited today, went for half-a-day skiing in Verbier. Uh, skis you don’t see you forget. After the first…

ground hog day

The worst was when it bent. Fooorward-baaaackward. Like a big boat. Only there was no water beneath, just air. Air and down, much further down, snow. The cablecar we were in, the biggest I have seen in my life, connected two mountains, without any mast inbetween. Cool, if it wouldn’t have stopped exactly in the…

boot camp

i’ll be on a boot camp type training in davos for the next few days, in the remote romanche-speaking part of the swiss mountains. out of sight n sound. if i survive the military (and if the military survives me :p), i guess i’ll be back.

sleepy birds

Rollercoaster fans would like the zurich-lausanne train trip.. it goes very fast, and the inclination it does during curves is amazing. And there are plenty of turns, some at the edge of lakes, you feel you’ll take a dive now, with train and all, others literally over people’s gardens, you can see the vegetables in…

next period

I’ll be on a project in Switzerland till the end of July, in a small town in the French part, near Lausanne. If you happen to come to Switzerland, let me know as soon as you can, so I can make arrangements to meet. Have no idea about lifestyle and free time in the new…

Paris

Last week was crazy.. slept 2-2-3-4-5 hours. Insane rhythm, nobody has time for you, to coach or pamper you.. you’d better be up to speed, and the speed is high.. was stressful especially at the beginning, as I felt a bit from another world in another world, but I ended up learning in this week…

first day in paris. sort of, paris.

i saw la tour eiffel today. from the car, on the way to the office from the client site, where we had no internet. i also saw the arch of triumph and the champs elysees, from the last floor of the office building. very nice.. its 2:46 am, and i just got a fairly detailed…

paris

my project in bucharest finished in no-time. didnt have time to breathe – today i literally cleaned the team room, delivered the “packs” to the client, and in the meantime found out that i have to catch a plane to Paris, where i am starting a new 2 weeks due dilligence project as of… now.unfortunately…

year start

not much to be newzd.. back to work week has been back to work week, not too bad actually, more calm. its bound to increase in intensity now that we are in the last two weeks of the project in bucharest. after that – dont know yet.in the meantime, here are some pics from sighisoara,…
