the long short way home

the journey home was longer and shorter. longer than usual, shorter than expected. i took the train to munchen and from there the overnight to budapest. i could have gone straight home by train, but i reserved a plane ticket from budapest to cluj. it was ok like this, a 28 hours train ride would have driven me nuts. the interruption was a welcome refreshment. instead of taking a cab from the railway station to the airport, i decided to carry my big trunk through the metro, to the city center, check it out, take a few pictures, and then continue to the end of the metro line, take a bus and go to the airport. was nice like this. budapest was under a thin layer of snow, and a thick grey fog, but still a refreshing walk on saturday morning. Christmas market is here on as well, as everywhere i’ve been this winter. budapest is by now a modern western european-looking city, especially in the center. one has to have a trained eastern european eye ;P to discover remainders of communism in the way things look and feel.
after this welcome breath of fresh air, at the airport i had the surprise to discover a flight to targu mures, which was leaving a bit before mine to cluj. so i switched to that one and managed to get home earlier.
home is covered in snow… beautiful. today we did a short photowalk.

its good to be home. i’m down in my room from where i wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
