Last night, the Romanian Lucian Bute, IBF world champion boxing for Interbox in Canada, had to defend his world title against a former world champion, William Joppy. Here is Joppy’s preview of the fight and here is the outcome
The Romanian construction worker Costel Busuioc went to Spain as a guest worker 2 years ago. His colleagues on the construction site encouraged him to participate to a “Spanish Idol” type show, Hijos de Babel, made for members of international communities in Spain. How it went you see below. He is still in contest, after…
i finally tried it this week-end, after much postponing. it is, like a friend told me, “inspiring”. i recommend: 1) read this tutorial 2) reserve a lesson with an instructor 3) go 2 hours or so BEFORE the lesson, pick a (VERY) small hill and get used to the board, doing the exercises in the…
Guggenmusik is street music people play in the Carnival period in germanic areas of Europe. Bands have colorful costumes and masks; they play the songs just over the edge of being “right to the tune”, but skillful, so it doesn’t go astray. It is quite an entertaining sight. This one was in the Zurich railway…
just found out about the marillion version of the song “wish you were here”. check it out and see what makes it special. i loved the idea.
my friend Nick pointed this out to me the other day. whether you close your eyes when listening or not, your choice. the video is nice too. i would try both variants. let nothing else matter, at least for a few minutes.
i found this song by chance, and it followed me through the last days of 2007. couldnt have enough listening. like a charm, it gets under your skin and then takes you off your feet: [trilu-audio]http://www.trilulilu.ro/petreradu1/92cd6b2b7aa55a[trilu-audio] this is how i found TerniPe, a hungarian gypsy music band aiming to find and restore original gypsy music,…
on new years eve i climbed a hill close to the city, to take pictures of the fireworks. it was cold and foggy; here is what came out under the circumstances. the big light in the first pictures is a laser beam from the restaurant on top of this hill, which earned it the nickname…
From snowy Sighisoara, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! And my favorite Christmas carol: [trilu-audio]http://www.trilulilu.ro/hosmy/ac2da6c6cde403[trilu-audio] See you in 2008!
Dijon’s great touristic attraction for me on Sunday was the game between Romania and Hungary, at the women’s handball world cup. So I drove the 3 hours to the place, managed to get the ticket i had reserved via the internet (collection centers were all closed.. sundays.. so i got it finally from the sports…
i had a day. what to do with it? it snowed earlier this week, so i thought to check out a ski resort close to “base”. there was one at ~90km which sounded vaguely known, so i went there. it was closed, though, however apparently there was one open closeby. so i ended up in…
here – check this out. (http://romerican.com/2006/09/26/tariff-day-high-dukes/)
another shockingly refreshing surprise during the game i watched last night (on the internet). again, it was steaua bucharest, and again on the receiving end. this time, at the delivering end senegal’s gueye mansour from F.C. Politehnica 1921 Timisoara.
here’s the context: Steaua Bucharest, the best romanian team all-time, played against Universitatea Cluj, somewhere in Transylvania, a team ranked LAST, without a victory. Steaua was leading 1-0, when this happened: At the end “U” Cluj won 2-1.This is why some people like football.
and last but not least, due to a win in Luxemburg and Albania tying Bulgaria (respect Tirana!), Romania qualified to the Football Euro 2008 championships! Yipeee!!
massachusetts turning red. the great nature’s autumn festival – and i was privileged to witness it for the second time, after exactly 2 years. the route boston-newyorknewyork is hamazing. recommended for your next week-end, whoever is reading this and can :). http://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf
important game today, romania-netherlands 1:0 in the euro 2008 qualifying. with this important and surprising result romania is, amazingly, almost qualified! am keeping fingers crossed for the last 3 games. more about boston later. takes a bit of time to let things sink in. for now just to mention how awesome it was to meet…
the rugby world cup is going on these days. below some samples of what it can be like.
