Sighisoara.. (read smthn like: See-ghee-show-ah-rah).. I fell in love with this place after I left it.. growing up here I was not aware how beautiful it is, maybe also because I didn’t have much of a frame of reference.. barely traveled, growing up.. but after I left to the university I redescovered my home town.. and I love it.. to me, it is the most charming place on earth. But I am biased :). To the visitor, it is probably one of the most charming anyway. The great thing about it is the inhabited medieval citadel, which used to contain the entire city population in the middle ages, now just a small part, as the city expanded. You can see in the pictures how it looks.. many compare it to Nurnberg and other old German towns (it was built indeed by Germans who settled in Transylvania 900 years ago). Also, surrounding Transylvanian scenery is BEAUTIFUL.. and it is best to EXPERIENCE it, breathing history, culture, tranquility and.. oxygen, since its very green :).
Ok, enough advertising.. I’m just delighted at the thought of having any of you visiting… would be pure joy!
I took some more pics today, am uploading them. Currently I’m in the process of re-adjusting to this universe I left a loong time ago… I think it will be one of the longest periods spent in this town maybe in 8 years…
